Why Your Morning Routine Controls Your Mind
According to Ayurveda, the early morning hours (Brahma Muhurta) are governed by Vata energy—light, subtle, and mobile.
This is why:
- Anxiety is often strongest in the morning
- Thoughts feel scattered
- Energy can feel unstable
A grounding morning routine stabilizes Vata and sets your nervous system for the entire day.
The Ideal Ayurvedic Morning Routine
1. Wake Before Sunrise
Aligns your body with natural circadian rhythms.
2. Tongue Scraping + Oral Care
Oil pulling with sesame oil if you are in a colder region, coconut oil if it doesn’t solidify where you are.
Follow up with tongue scraping. Removes toxins (Ama) accumulated overnight.
3. Warm Water + Digestion Boosters
First thing in the moring is great, but actually you can sip all day long!
- Lemon
- Ginger
- Cumin
- CCF tea
4. Abhyanga (Self-Oil Massage)
Use warm sesame oil for a self massage right before you shower. If you have a few minutes, leave it on and then do your morning movement routine. This might happen only occasionally, but it is definitely worth it for your skin!
